Keep every scene true to your story

Creators can now keep characters, settings, translations, and visual details consistent across longer quests, with clearer scene review and more precise help from connected AI assistants. Players can discover stories more easily and experience more reliable scene transitions and sound.

  • Added localized chapter descriptions alongside chapter titles in Builder and connected translation workflows, so every chapter can introduce itself naturally in each quest language.
  • Added persistent story and visual bibles that carry character identity, relationships, emotions, appearance, locations, approved artwork, and exact spatial details from one scene to the next.
  • Strengthened scene review for visible anatomy and image artifacts, gaze direction, conversation partners sharing the frame, portrait identity, mobile composition, clothing and prop continuity, and changing views through windows or across adjacent shots.
  • Separated observable visual problems from optional artistic preferences, so a scene can preserve the author’s chosen mood and style while still blocking concrete defects or contradictions.
  • Kept the current background and characters visible until a manually advanced dialogue card is finished, preventing the next visual beat from appearing before the player continues.
  • Stopped looping audio cleanly at clip boundaries, reducing sound that could continue after its scene or story moment has ended.
  • Added copyable scene identifiers in the scene editor and live chapter preview, making it easier to point a collaborator or connected assistant to the exact moment that needs attention.
  • Improved localized quest discovery by letting players search with familiar translated genre terms while keeping stable filters and results as selections change.
  • Made the public quest catalog and creator guidance easier for search engines and connected assistants to understand, helping more stories remain discoverable outside the Romergo interface.

Keep creating while your quest publishes

Creators can now send a quest to publication and continue working without waiting on the page, with clearer project tools and more dependable exports. Players receive more consistent story updates, smoother scene changes, and cleaner sound when returning to an earlier moment.

  • Moved publication into the background, so creators can leave the publication page or close the window while Romergo prepares the playable version.
  • Added a persistent publication status with clear stages and progress, plus a confirmation when the quest is ready for players and a safe retry path if publishing cannot finish.
  • Added publication cancellation before the final step without changing the current public version, draft, or selected publication settings.
  • Made AI-assisted story creation more dependable by checking scene direction, dialogue, artwork, sound, and story paths before a quest is treated as complete, while preserving the chosen cover.
  • Ordered the dialogue view by the actual story path and added filters and markers for branches, merges, cycles, and scenes outside the main route, making nonlinear stories easier to review.
  • Made draft, review, published, and archived projects easier to distinguish at a glance, including the current version where it is available.
  • Placed project import next to new-quest creation and redesigned the import steps for narrow screens, making it easier to bring an existing story into Romergo from any device.
  • Improved project exports with more dependable downloads, clearer expired-file and failure states, and a direct retry when an export does not finish.
  • Added desktop and phone previews for custom scene appearance, and kept variable controls readable inside narrow choice panels.
  • Stopped sound from an abandoned scene when a player returns to an earlier story moment, and kept scene changes moving even when an image is slow to become ready.
  • Made the current release history easier for connected assistants to follow, so they can give creators more accurate guidance about Romergo.

v1.1.0

Publish chapters when they are ready

Creators can now release a story chapter by chapter and return to improve earlier chapters, while players keep their place across compatible updates or choose how to continue when a new version changes too much.

  • Added chapter selection to publishing, with every chapter selected by default and clear labels for drafts, previously published chapters, and changes since the last release.
  • Kept every release complete: chapters that were published before remain available at their previous version when they are not selected for an update, while chapters that are still drafts stay private.
  • Added publication history with release number, date, visibility, note, and a chapter-by-chapter view of what was added, updated, or carried forward unchanged.
  • Made each published version self-contained, so players never receive a changing mixture of old chapters, new chapters, and mismatched story media.
  • Let connected AI assistants inspect publication history and deliberately choose which chapters to include in the next release.
  • Kept an open play session on the exact story version it started with, preventing a new publication from changing the story in the middle of a scene.
  • Moved compatible saves to the newest publication automatically after checking that the chapter, scene, choices, variables, and interactive state can still continue safely.
  • When a save cannot move safely, let the player continue the older version, archive the old progress and restart on the new version, or leave without changing anything.
  • Extended the same version-aware protection to cloud saves, guest play, offline queues, and downloaded stories, including safeguards against an older device replacing newer progress.

Stories are ready for more

Romergo is taking its first big step! Playing published stories stays free, creators can start their first quest at no cost, and Pro or Team are there closer to release—when a standalone build, private delivery, a personal brand, or more room to collaborate becomes important.

  • Introduced a clear Free, Pro, and Team plan family, with paid creation tools separated from the experience of playing published quests for free.
  • Made storage ten times larger at every step of the new plan family: 500 MB on Free, 5 GB on Pro, and 50 GB of pooled storage on Team.
  • Kept the first creation journey free: publish a public or unlisted Romergo-branded quest, work with one collaborator, and always download the portable .romergo project archive.
  • Added Pro for independent releases, with private publishing, a custom logo and name, up to five people per quest, and 20 standalone builds each month.
  • Added Team workspaces with five seats, shared projects, pooled storage, member roles, and 100 standalone builds each month.
  • Added a dedicated pricing page with monthly and annual choices and a direct comparison of what each plan unlocks.
  • Made the current plan, occupied and remaining storage, monthly standalone-build allowance, and reset date visible in the profile and account menu.
  • Added creator branding to published quests and Player completion screens, including a custom display name and logo on Pro and Team.
  • Made payment problems and downgrades non-destructive: projects, media, private publications, branding, and team relationships stay intact while only unavailable or over-limit actions are paused.
  • Kept existing private publications private and restored suspended collaboration automatically when paid access returns.
  • Let connected AI agents read the creator’s current plan, storage allowance, standalone-build quota, and any temporary billing restriction.
  • Made standalone builds more dependable by returning quota for failed, canceled, or expired jobs instead of charging for files that were never produced.
  • Improved large project archive delivery, refreshed the portability guidance, and kept standalone packages aligned with the current Romergo Player.
  • Published a new 14-language Dev Blog article about how Romergo Player renders and preloads stories, alongside clearer purpose-built technical illustrations.
  • Simplified public navigation by keeping Prices in the header and moving Releases and Plans to the footer.

Your stories, beyond Romergo

Creators can now keep an open copy of their work, restore it as a new draft, and prepare standalone games for the web, Windows, macOS, and Microsoft Store, making every story easier to preserve, move, and share beyond Romergo.

  • Added the documented .romergo project archive with chapters, scenes, story flow, variables, translations, media, contributor credits, and integrity checks.
  • Added safe project import with a clear preview of chapters, languages, media, contributors, storage needs, and anything that requires attention before a new draft is created.
  • Added standalone game builds for browsers and itch.io, Windows, Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and Microsoft Store packages, all using the same story Player and local saves.
  • Added a standalone title screen with the game name, chapter and language selection, Continue, Start from beginning, and Reset progress.
  • Added upload-ready Steam and itch.io packages with instructions and local signing tools, while keeping store accounts, certificates, passwords, and publishing under the creator’s control.
  • Added agent-assisted migration guidance for Twine, ink, Yarn Spinner, Ren’Py, documents, and mixed source material through Romergo MCP.
  • Added private build progress and downloads in Builder, with completed files available only to the project owner for seven days.
  • Published a technical Dev Blog article explaining the complete portability system, including a playable production example based on The Blizzard.

Clean AI article translations

Readers can now follow the personal AI agent article in Korean and Spanish without internal translation markers interrupting the explanation, making every localized version clearer and easier to read.

  • Restored the intended MCP tool, event, command, and client names in the Korean article and the missing error label in Spanish.
  • Added a build-time check that stops publication if an internal translation placeholder remains in the article.

v0.11.0

· released

Bring your own AI agent into Builder

Creators can now work with the AI agent they already use as a visible, permission-controlled collaborator inside Builder, while safer story-flow saving, stronger multilingual editing, smoother sign-in, and better recovery make ambitious quests easier to create and keep playable.

  • Expanded the experimental AI panel into a complete working session: the connected personal agent receives the current Builder page and focused scenes, reports its progress, shows the tools it used, asks questions when needed, and returns a structured summary of what actually changed.
  • Added clear room permissions for reading, editing, media, publishing, and deletion, with optional one-time confirmations for sensitive actions and immediate room closure when access should end.
  • Made a direct instruction in Builder count as permission for the enabled actions, avoiding repeated confirmation loops while still keeping publishing and deletion separately controllable.
  • Improved long-running AI work with durable command ownership, reconnection, resumable conversations, visible waiting and error states, and protection against the same task being handled twice.
  • Redesigned the AI chat with resizable desktop width, responsive narrow layouts, expandable tool activity, dynamic context details, conversation history, new-chat controls, and clearer completed results.
  • Protected playable quest versions from broken chapter graphs: Builder now checks starts, endings, links, unreachable scenes, and completion paths before a Flow change can replace the last safe runtime.
  • Improved chapter Flow editing with focused-node context for the AI agent, clearer choice labels and translation gaps, safer scene deletion and recovery, and more direct use of project assets on the map.
  • Added an adjustable black-and-white camera effect for cinematic scenes, with the same result in Builder controls and Player playback across every supported language.
  • Completed the move to the multilingual quest format, repaired older projects during migration, kept every translation intact when switching languages, and made Classic stories and templates reliably editable and clonable again.
  • Made free assets easier to find and reuse, strengthened checks for Classic artwork before import, and kept scene previews synchronized with the latest edits.
  • Added a clearer registration and legal-consent flow, recovered existing shared sign-in sessions across Romergo products, and made first-time account setup safe to retry.
  • Improved recovery after application updates and missing browser files, with useful not-found screens and more dependable Player startup and library rendering.
  • Refined the public releases and plans pages, added clearer loading and temporary-unavailable states, and kept privacy choices consistent across the landing experience.
  • Published the Romergo dev blog in all 14 supported languages, including an interactive article about inviting a personal AI agent into a live Builder session.
  • Made play statistics reflect real web, Telegram, Discord, and embedded sessions more accurately, giving creators a clearer view of how their quests are experienced.

v0.10.28

An easier start for creators and players

Quest authors can now learn Builder through guided tours, players can safely revisit earlier story moments, and everyone can understand and share Romergo more easily—making it simpler to start creating, explore each story, and invite others to play.

  • Added short contextual Builder tours for the main navigation, quest structure, chapter flow, timeline scenes, and interface scenes, with progress saved to the account.
  • Added a replay action only on pages that have a matching guide, so training always points to controls that are actually available.
  • Added rewind in Player for returning to earlier dialogue, choices, and scenes while restoring the complete story state.
  • Kept rewind inside author-defined checkpoint boundaries, preventing players from returning to moments that would conflict with later progress.
  • Added quest and chapter controls for rewind, including chapter-level inheritance or overrides.
  • Made Telegram sharing open its native chat picker and include the quest cover, title, description, and play button whenever they are available.

v0.10.23

  • Improved flow selection and groups: move selected scenes together, add or remove group members, and review them before deletion.
  • Split Templates and Assets into dedicated libraries, with template search and filters by tag and quest type.

  • Unified charts in creator statistics and playable interfaces for clearer data on every screen.

v0.10.11

Classic stories, reliable play, and sharing

Romergo Classic opens with The Last Leaf in 14 languages, while clearer translations, steadier dialogue, editorial feedback, and direct Telegram sharing make quests easier to create, publish, play, and recommend from any device.

  • Opened the Romergo Classic collection with The Last Leaf: a carefully staged literary edition available to play in all 14 supported languages.
  • Added original-work credits, a dedicated Classic filter, and Open in Builder so anyone can create an editable copy of a published edition.
  • Made artwork, music, and sounds from Classic editions reusable through the shared free library without using a creator’s storage allowance.
  • Added editable translations for quest titles, descriptions, chapter names, and character names, with the selected language shown consistently on quest pages and inside Player.
  • Kept dialogue visible until the player clicks or presses a key, preserved music and character presentation between scenes, and made quest and chapter titles visible in the mobile Player header.

  • Added a clearer publication and announcement flow, including a quest preview and editable community message when a new story is ready.

v0.10.0

· released

A new home for interactive stories

Romergo now has a completely redesigned public experience that helps players find the stories they want and shows creators how an idea becomes a playable quest. Real Builder and Player examples, clearer product pages, and better guidance make it easier to understand the platform and choose where to begin on any device.

  • Rebuilt the main landing page around Romergo’s two sides, with an interactive choice between creating and playing that changes the story path and product preview as you explore it.
  • Added dedicated Player and Creator pages with real screenshots of the scene editor, chapter flow, desktop Player, and mobile Player instead of reconstructed product mockups.
  • Made progress safer across unreliable connections and multiple devices: saves are kept locally before upload, queued work resumes after reconnecting, and players choose which version to continue when cloud and device progress differ.
  • Kept guest progress when a player signs in and synchronized it in order without letting an older upload replace a newer playthrough from another device.
  • Synchronized interactive interface scenes for Discord groups, so spectators now see the same widget changes, selected states, content, and visual presentation as the host.
  • Added clear download progress in megabytes for offline quests, with reliable retries that preserve files already downloaded instead of starting the whole download again.
  • Made Builder image browsing and repeated previews faster by caching draft artwork while still showing fresh replacements when an asset changes.
  • Added six clearly presented genre concepts for romance, detective stories, speculative fiction, horror, history, and learning, helping players imagine the range of quests that can be published on Romergo.
  • Explained the complete creation workflow more clearly, from planning scenes and choices to previewing, publishing, collaboration, AI-assisted work, offline support, and open integrations.
  • Redesigned the releases, plans, legal, and public search pages so they share the same cinematic visual language, clearer navigation, and more useful text for players and authors.
  • Introduced distinct product identities throughout the public experience: pink for Player, blue for Builder, and a combined palette wherever both sides of Romergo meet.
  • Redesigned cookie consent and preference controls across Landing, Player, and Builder with clearer choices, accessible controls, and responsive layouts for phones and desktops.
  • Added direct links to the Romergo community and social channels, making it easier to follow releases, discuss stories, and share feedback.

v0.9.12

· released

Safer saves and faster problem diagnosis

Quest edits now save in the right order when authors move between the chapter map and a scene, reducing interrupted work, while clearer consented activity records help us find and fix future editing problems faster.

  • Kept project saves in sequence across Builder pages, so opening a scene immediately after editing the chapter map no longer makes the new page save against an older project version.
  • Recorded the exact reason when an automatic save fails, making future editing problems easier to identify and resolve.
  • Linked consented Builder activity to the signed-in account without adding an email address to analytics, so a creator’s path can be followed across sign-in when investigating a reported problem.

v0.9.8

· released

Richer profiles and smoother quest editing

Players and authors can now create a more personal public profile, highlight favorite and published quests, and discover the people behind reviews and stories, while clearer editing and in-game controls make creating and playing easier across Romergo, Telegram, and Discord.

  • Added richer public profiles with a wide banner, cropped avatar, about section, published quest and playthrough counts, and an average rating for published games.
  • Added up to three favorite quests as compact profile cards, giving every player and author a simple way to share the stories they recommend.
  • Made author names on published quests and available player names in reviews open their public profiles, making it easier to discover more quests and people.
  • Added visual avatar and banner editors with click-to-upload, drag positioning, zoom, and circular or wide cropping before an image is saved.
  • Moved documents and privacy settings to a dedicated profile page, keeping the main profile focused on identity, activity, and quests.
  • Improved Player menus for language, volume, and accessibility so controls stay easy to reach without covering the playable area, including embedded play.

  • Refined chapter and scene editing with clearer navigation, more focused panels, faster access to scene details, and previews that remain stable while authors work.

v0.9.1

· released

Play quests together in Discord

Friends can now experience the same Romergo quest together inside Discord: one person leads the playthrough, everyone else watches in sync and votes on choices, and control can be passed to another participant without restarting the story.

  • Added shared Discord playthroughs where every participant sees the same scenes, dialogue, choices, transitions, and story state.
  • Added a clear host role so one person controls the story while friends join as synchronized spectators.
  • Added live spectator voting on story choices, letting the host see what the group prefers before making the final decision.
  • Added host transfer from the game menu, so another participant can continue from the same scene and moment without restarting the chapter.
  • Added safe recovery when the host briefly disconnects, including paused playback, reconnection, and automatic reassignment when needed.
  • Kept volume and accessibility controls personal for every participant while protecting shared story actions from accidental spectator input.
  • Made late joins and reconnects catch up to the current playthrough instead of opening a separate game.
  • Localized the complete shared-play experience across all 14 supported languages.

v0.9.0

· released

Your AI agent, inside Builder

You can now connect an AI agent you already use and work with it without leaving Romergo—ask questions, refine text, and make quest changes with the current Builder page and selected content included as context.

  • Added an AI chat drawer inside Builder, so authors can ask for explanations, new text, or quest edits while staying on the page they are working on.
  • Added a simple MCP connection flow that lets authors use their own compatible AI agent and account instead of a separate Romergo AI balance.
  • Attached the current Builder page and selected text to requests, making focused edits easier without repeatedly describing where the change belongs.
  • Added asset workflows that let connected agents inspect existing project images, create or upload replacements, and apply them to scenes without manual downloads and reattachment.
  • Added conversation history with controls to start, switch, and delete conversations, so reconnecting no longer removes the visible context of earlier work.
  • Kept the feature explicitly experimental, explained its privacy implications, and localized the complete experience across all 14 supported languages.

v0.8.15

· released

Play quests in Telegram and Discord

You can now open and play shared quests without leaving Telegram or Discord, then continue the same playthrough in Romergo whenever you want—making it faster for authors to reach people and easier for players to begin from any chat.

  • Added branded Telegram and Discord share actions after publishing and on public quest pages, alongside a copyable web link.
  • Saved progress inside each embedded platform and added Continue in Romergo, so players can sign in and attach the current playthrough to their account without starting over.
  • Protected existing Romergo progress with a clear choice before replacing it when an embedded playthrough is imported.

  • Made interface scenes show their real card layout and approximate duration directly on the chapter map, so authors can understand the flow at a glance.
  • Made playable dashboards more expressive with typed conversations, changing identities, live task completion, notification actions and sounds, changing resource values, and longer scrollable choices.

You can now create stories where early decisions matter in later chapters, quickly try different outcomes before publishing, and let players restart only when they choose—making complex quests easier to build, test, and play.

  • Added a confirmed Start from the beginning action that clears saved choices, variables, and chapter progress only when the player explicitly requests a fresh playthrough.

  • Added Builder preview controls for testing variables with values already defined by the quest, plus optional live editing in the State panel without changing the quest itself.
